I was born in South Korea to a family with a Methodist Pastor as the head of household. I was ten years old when my father’s wish to further his education in America caused my family to emigrate from Korea. We settled in Bergen County, NJ.
The experience of my becoming an American was filled with joy. The freedom gave me opportunity to try many things. I thought I could do all things. I tried music, engineering, sports, and other paths to live out and attain the “American Dream.” But the Grace of God helped me to recognize my calling to ministry. And God helped me to reclaim the words that I had lost when I thought I could do all things: “through Christ who strengthens me.” My journey into ministry started with becoming a seminary student at Drew while serving two churches as a local pastor at Lyndhurst United Methodist Church and a youth pastor at Yobel Korean United Methodist Church. I was appointed to Beverly United Methodist Church in 2008. While serving at Beverly, I was able to shed my status as a bachelor when Jennifer graciously accepted my marriage proposal. God has blessed us with a son in 2012 and we named him Jonah.
I am eager to experience the joy of being part of First United Methodist Church of Tuckerton and pray for nurturing and growing what God has planted in all of us.
