FUMC Family Promise Hosting

A nonprofit organization created to provide emergency shelter and support to homeless families.

The Family Promise program in southern Ocean County as part of the Interfaith Hospitality Network, is up and running. Our church has joined with other local churches to provide volunteers, shelter, food, and hospitality for the selected families that are temporarily homeless but don’t qualify for other assistance. Family Promise allows families to catch their breath while they seek new jobs and places to live. As a participating Host Congregations, we house the families for one week and then they move on to the next Host on a rotating basis. This nation-wide program has offered hope to the homeless for 20 years through 140 networks.

FUMC Tuckerton’s next turn to host will be the week of August 23. These families are in real need of our help and support. We will definitely need additional volunteers to help provide meals, spend time with families, stay overnight, and to help with set up and take down. Additionally, as we get closer, there will be some supplies that we might need. If you think you can help, please call the church office at 609-296-9610 or email

Thank you for your continued support with this worthwhile program!

Family Promise is now accepting applications from families for entrance into the program. If you know of any families that need this type of assistance and meet the following criteria please have them contact the Director, Cheryl Polo at 609-994-3317 or email .
